Talk about putting pressure on these authors! Do I expect to have all the answers after reading these books? Nope. Do I think my life will change in monumental ways after reading one of these books? Probably not. Do I think I’ll think differently about my life — past and present? Absolutely.

I expect to have more questions after reading these books rather than answers. Maybe that frustrates some people, but not me. It inspires me to read and learn more. I scour my memories to find examples that either support or challenge authors’ ideas.

My goal when I read nonfiction is to walk away from a paragraph, chapter, or book and think, “Huh. I never thought of it that way.” or “I had no idea.” I want to feel a spark of enlightenment, no matter how small.

I’m confident that I’ll experience at least one spark, if not more when reading all of these nonfiction books.
